pledging part 3

Sorry it's been awhile.

I've been in kind of a funk lately. I'm not gonna bore you with my teenage drama and random crap that's going on in my life... for now. This post is updating on pledging again.

So, I was kind of crappy this week about getting pictures taken. I was extraordinarily tired and the last thing I was thinking about was pictures. But here are the ones I got!

Monday:
Disney Day!
I was Minnie! Diggin the shoulder pads!

Wednesday:
Tau Dizzle Day-I love my Mommy Boards!
We had to make boards that said why we love our mom's, and wear them around all day. Just so happened to be the windiest day at Luther College that I have ever experienced. I had to hold them down as I walked across campus so that they wouldn't fly off or into my face, and all the people walking anywhere near me.
So here's the front...

And the back! (notice the bend across the top left side... thanks wind!)

Friday:
Halloween Day
We had to dress up in our outfits that we were planning on wearing out! I didn't get any during the day, but this is right before we went out on Friday night!
RISKY BUSINESS BABY!

You guys missed out on
Thursday: Sweatin to the Oldies Day
Friday: Frat Day
Tuesday: Good Ol' Granny Day
Thursday: Blizzard Day

Oh, and I should probably tell you about my super fun punishment I had to carry out on Blizzard Day. Remember when I had to wear a towel on my head? Some actives in the sorority saw me and one of my good friends not wearing our towels when we were supposed to, so we had to wear towels on our heads again. AND wear trash bags that were tucked into underwear that we had to wear over my pants. It was... fun. I'm kinda glad I didn't get a picture. Last time I posted embarrassing pics on here they ended up on a power point ;) (Alex and Molly!)

So now we have a week left of dressing up, and curfew is at 7 PM everyday for the next week. So activation is sneaking up on us! We don't know when it's going to happen, we just know that we're ready to be activated!

fall break and boredom.

Ahhhhh... Fall Break.

What a lovely invention. It's short, sweet, meaningless. Just wonderful. And the perfect break when it comes to pledging. Not that I don't love pledging, I really do! It's just a little bit stressful when there are so many things to remember to do. Tape your back, wear your pearls, tuck in your shirt, wear traditions, write on your face, wear a name tag. And the list goes on. But it really is fun, and I'm not lying.

So here's the Family Portrait Day pic that I promised I'd put up.
Me and my Momma, Jaye.

Good report on my roommate, by the way! I called her the day of her wisdom teeth being taken out, and she was loopy, but not in pain! :)

On another note, as much as I love fall break. I was oddly lonely the first couple days. I just kinda lazed around my room as my family functioned normally. Minus some family time, going to my high school's cheer practice, shopping, and catching up with some old teachers... it was pretty... eh. I missed the fast paced college atmosphere that I have grown so accustomed to. I really do love college. And I go back tomorrow, to see these lovely girls(plus Ali, BIRTHDAY GIRL! woop!). :)

tau dizzle month

AHHH!!!
Time for another update!

So since my last post all the mommy's and grandma's have posted pictures of pick-up night.
Here's my favorite!

Like I said in my last post, I was so nervous for this moment. I was the second to last person in my dorm to be picked up!

So this week wasn't too stressful. We didn't have to do anything ridiculous to do for the first half of the week. Then, the second half we found out our punishments. I got a group one, which you'll see a picture of. But I wore black yoga pants instead of nice pants, so I had the punishment "didn't have time to get ready". So no make up, hair had to be up in a towel. Fun. Not.

Oh, and we had to bend and snap every time we saw an active on Thursday.

So here are the outfits for the week.

Monday
Tourist/Tropical Vacation Day:
Had to wear really corny typical tourist stuff. Note the fanny pack, lei, and... colorful... vest.

Thursday
Double Trouble Day!
Had to dress as twins with someone in the pledge class. Me and Jennie took bleach pens to black shirts. And if you couldn't guess, this is the day that I had to serve my punishment.

Friday
Mommy's Lil Angel Day!
This day we had to dress like angels! So wings, halo's, the whole shabang. Also, we had to make a little star with our mom's name in it. You might be able to see mine on my name tag. :)

Notice that I didn't have pictures for Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday was family portrait day, and me and my mom both forgot our cameras, so my roommate has a picture that she will upload once she's not dopey on pain meds after getting wisdom teeth hopefully sometime tonight. And wednesday wasn't anything special. Tau Dizzle Day again. That was the day I got in trouble for yoga pants... woops.

And once again. The silly picture for the week. Syd at highway clean up.
Sooooo classy.

pledge month starts NOW.

Sorority.
Never though I'd be a part of one of those! But I'm proud to say, that I am pledging Tau Delta Gamma here at Luther.

For a really long time I was positive that I would never join a sorority. It just wasn't my scene. I knew a lot of people that were in sorority's and I never thought I'd fit in or make friends when in one. Plus I didn't like the idea of HAVING to live in a house with a bunch of girls that I didn't necessarily like.

Then I came to Luther College. The greek thing isn't like it is at Iowa State or Iowa or anywhere like that. There aren't sorority and fraternity houses where everyone in the group lives. It's more focused on the family aspect and really getting to know the girls in the sorority as a group and becoming closer to your pledge class and everything through pledge month.
Now that I'm a part of it I absolutely love it. My Mom is so sweet, and all of my friends are embracing it just as much as I am. We dress up every day together and try to stay together as a group and have fun with everything that we are forced to do!

So far we've had 3 dress up days, not counting pick up night. We got a list of things that we had to wear every day (I have to wear a big pink ring, a blue bracelet, my pearls, letters on my face, a name tag, tape on my back that says "tau delta gamma pledge Chelsea", and wings on wednesdays), plus a big tote of clothes that we can use for the dress up days for the rest of the month.

Here's what I've looked like so far!

Pick up night:
We were scared out of our minds!
(They picked us up one at a time, threw a shirt on us, put on our traditions, and wrote on our faces!)

Day 1:
Had to wear our family traditions,
plus the shirts we got on pick-up night.

Day 2:
Mommy dress me day.
This outfit has been passed down through the years, my mom wore it when she pledged, and her mom wore it too. I'm thinking I'm gonna switch out the shoes for next year since I had to cut them up so that my feet could fit (they were 2 sizes to small..)!

Day 3:
Super Norse Day.
Had to dress up in blue and white, Norse helmets and a cape!

Also, we get punished if we do something wrong. For example, someone forgot to put the tiers on the letters they wrote on their face, so they had to draw legit tears on their face the next day. Someone else messed up when they said their grandma's name on pick-up night, so they had to write "I heart Krista" on their forehead. We also got punished as a group. On day one they said that we didn't say hello to enough actives, so on Mommy Dress Me Day we had to say hello to all the females we passed on campus, and on Super Norse Day we had to gallop EVERYWHERE.

I'm also the pledge president for our pledge class. Me and my friend Taylor have to organize a bunch of stuff that all the pledges have to do as a group. Like, organizing our photo scavenger hunt that is due at the end of the month, and lots of other random stuff, like decorating a FLOAT!

You like? We had to figure out what the design was and then figure out when everyone would meet up! It was important that we had a sweet design, cause if we had the best float we got a cash prize. We don't know if we won yet, but we're hoping for the best! This whole president thing has been a huge responsibility, but it just makes it all the more fun! I'm really enjoying it!

So, now that I've told you everything there is to know about my pledge month so far. I'll just say that I'll keep you updated, and hope that you think its interesting! I hope you have as great of a month as I'm about to have!
XOXO

Oh, and here's who I've been hanging out with this whole week.
Aren't they hawt?
