skin solution?

I have always had extremely sensitive skin. I swell up immediately if I get bit by a bug(you should see me when I get bit on the face!), and I've had trouble with acne since junior high.

Since I had Carter my skin problems have doubled. I got exzema(I also had it when I was a baby) folliculitus and my face has been a nightmare. I've been to the dermatologist multiple times since the first of the year but because I'm breast feeding I can't have any heavy duty antibiotics. It's seriously a bummer cause all I want is clear beautiful skin.

Today my mom and I finally went on got some Bare Escentuals in the hopes that my face will finally clear up. So far my face at least looks clearer(thank you concealer!) but I'll let you know how it works for me! My sister swears by the stuff, but her skin has never been as sensitive as mine! I'll keep you updated!

future.

I. Love. Houses.
Or at least homes... I look at Craigslist for rentals and Iowa realty basically daily to see what's out there. My grandma and I even went on a mini road trip to see a house I have my eye on today!

I've talked about how I feel like I'm stuck a lot in the past(sorry) and now that I'm engaged it's like it's time to finally take those first steps towards really growing up. I feel like for the first time, looking at all those websites isn't in vain. In a year(ish) I'll have a husband, I'll be closer to having a degree and a job. I might even have a house!

It's all so exciting!! And I can't stop smiling. :)

laramie lovin.

I wish I could say that me and Carter's trip to Laramie was full of fun and we were constantly busy with Jack... but I would be lying.

There really isn't much to do in Laramie. It's one of the most boring small towns I have been to in my entire life.

But it's ok! We got some quality time with Jack and I'm so happy we got to go! Next time we see Jack we'll be at my cabin in the Black Hills! So excited!

Carter sporting some Wyotech swag!

Got myself a shirt to show my support for my guy ;)

my life thru my phone

I've seen lots of blogs recently that just do photo dumps from their phones to update their readers on their lives. What a novel idea!
I'm joining the club.

Carter makes this awesome face when he does 'So big!' In case you haven't noticed, Carter has two chins and a tiny neck, so this face gets rid of the neck entirely and enhances the look of his cheeks. ;)

I went out with my friends to celebrate Rachenda(in the middle) and Ryan's 21st birthday. This picture documents directly before my body decided to purge itself of everything I had consumed since about 9 that night...
Awesome(not really).
I also had a final the next day.

Carter can stand!!! Kind of...
As you can see from this picture, its a stand for 3 seconds and then plop on your bottom kind of stand... But he does it all the time.
So there.
He can stand!

I recently picked up racquetball. My sister and brother-in-law are racquetball fanatics and used to play a ton in college. They are both getting back in the swing of things and they've invited me along!
For mothers day my mom got me a bunch of my own racquetball stuff so that I don't have to borrow Courtney's all the time. Here's me being excited(and nerdy) about it.

Carter and I went and hung out by the lake by our house yesterday. It was a beautiful day. Not too hot, and breezy. Only problem was the bugs(I hate bugs) so we didn't stay long, but I've decided I need to go outside more... Carter loved it!

Carter joined a gang.
Ok, not really... but he DID wear my bandana and looked dang cute in it.

mother's day.

Mother's Day... A holiday I didn't think I would be honored for for at least a few years... But here I am, and I couldn't be happier.

Last year on Mother's Day I remember going to church with an oversized shirt, and the only people who knew I was pregnant was my close family. Now I have the sweetest boy in the world to help me celebrate and I couldn't be any more proud to be his mom.

Also, I couldn't end this post without saying thank you to my mom who has been so loving and supportive for my whole life, not to mention since I had Carter. I couldn't ask for a better mom.

Happy Mother's Day

realization.

I just realized that it was a year ago that my life took a turn that would turn everything else in my life upside down. When people started finding out I was pregnant it was really scary and everything felt so rushed(probably because it was). I felt like even though I had known I was pregnant for awhile, I only had a few months to process before Carter actually got here. After that I was happy, but not until a minute ago did I realize that seriously... EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED.

I go to a different school where I am having an experience exactly the opposite of what I had at Luther. Off-campus... No social life.

I don't see any close friends on a regular basis either because they live far away or we have conflicting schedules.

Not only do I have a boyfriend, but I'm engaged and I'm planning on getting married next summer(maybe). (if you had told me a year ago that I was gonna be engaged in a year I would've thought you were crazy)

I have a baby... That's a big one.

I'm planning on moving out ASAP. I probably would've milked it for a couple years if I hadn't had Carter... Now I'm constantly looking at apartments around Des Moines.

Looking back on all those things I'm not upset, because they happened for a reason. But it is kind of sad that I had to grow up so quickly. I miss the things I had, but I love the things I have.
