construction paper and crafts.

So a couple days ago I showed you my DIY shoes where I wrote lyrics on a pair of plain white shoes, and said how I wanted to be more creative more often! So I decided I'd show you some of the stuff I've been doing lately!

This one is a booklet that I did for my Educational Psychology class. My teacher is great and lets us do pretty much whatever we want to show her what we've been learning. I decided to do a booklet to show that hands-on learning is how I learn best, which kind of tied in with the main points that I had to make for the review.

This little project I actually just finished. My dorm room faces a study lounge that is usually pretty packed, and the lounge is about 2 stories above my window, so they have a straight view into my room at certain times in the day. I've had experiences where I was changing and received a text message saying "you might want to close your curtains, you're giving brunsdale a show". Of course, I've been pretty anal about closing my curtains since then, but there's another problem... the lights in the lounge NEVER turn off during the night. There is a constant stream of light coming through my window at night, and when my bed was still lofted it didn't bother me much, but since I moved my bed the light hits me square in the face all night.

I'm hoping that this little addition to my window will solve both problems! Here's hoping!

On another note... isn't my view just great? That concrete wall really adds character.

stress.

Isn't it interesting that sometimes when you are at one of your lowest lows, you find strength through other people? I have been known to bottle up my emotions and my thoughts and fears for whatever reason. And at some point or another I just snap. It is so encouraging when people you care about are there to lift you up and make you feel so much better.

Earlier this week was one of those times. I can't believe how amazing my friends and family have been, and how now I am feeling strong, confident, and like nothing can bring me down.

This goes out to everyone that has been there for me ever, but especially this week.

Thanks to all of you, I don't know what I would do without you in my life!

hair.

My new obsession:

Curling my hair.

While I was in Minnesota helping celebrate my little brothers birthday I forgot my straightener. So I put my hair in a braid while it was still a little wet after my shower. At the end of the party I took out the braid and my hair was wavy but looked kind of jankety so I asked to borrow my step mom's curling iron. It ended up looking awesome. For some reason when I curl my hair without it already being wavy it ends up falling funny and having weird little indents in places it shouldn't... it's almost too perfect. So having the waves already there kind of breaks my hair up into perfect sections for curling. I've curled my hair every day since Sunday... and I'm LOVING it!

Although, I do feel kind of bad for my straightener... maybe I'll whip that out tomorrow just for kicks :)

P.S. Remember when all of my posts were about hair? Yell at me if I get back into that trend! HA!

diy shoes.

I have decided that I need to be more creative... I recently took a marker to a pair of plain white shoes I got at Target a while back. I never wore them because they were too plain. So I got some super skinny permanent markers and wrote some lyrics on them.

If you aren't familiar with Jonny Lang, then that should change pronto. I thought the lyrics to his song "Turn Around" were perfect to go on a pair of shoes.

Here's what they say:

"I was a young man in a hurry,
I didn't stop to think
The next thing I knew I was in trouble,
Deep Trouble.

Then I remember what Aunt Linda(irony, I have an Aunt named Linda! HA!)
Used to tell me back in the day,
The words that she said
Are still in my head, she said:

The choices you make,
Might be mistakes,
But it's never too late
To turn around, turn around.

The road that you take
Might lead you astray
But it's never too late
To turn around, turn around.

You might be in trouble,
You might be running
But it's never too late to turn around.
'Cause as long as you're still breathing
There'll always be enough time
To make the right decision before you die."

There's actually another verse in the song and the chorus is repeated but those are the words I decided were the most important for my shoes(plus I didn't have enough space to fit the rest of the song).

Either way, I want to be more creative more often... so I'm going to be! More stuff like this to come hopefully!

keep the drama fo yo mama.

This is what has been bothering me all afternoon. Sorry if this turns into a rant, but I need to get it out there.

DRAMA.

i hate it hate it hate it

Sure... I'm a teen...wait. No I'm not... I'm freaking 20 years old... why are people being dramatic still? Let's grow up people.

Let me just say, one of the most dramatic frustrating things that people can do is get mad at someone for no reason. Have you ever had one of those friends that you are constantly walking on eggshells around because you never know when they are going to take something personally? I have a few of those, and let me tell you, sometimes I wonder why we're still friends.

That might sound really awful, but lets be honest... Who wants to be friends with someone that you have to watch everything you say around? Someone you can't be honest with because you're afraid they are going to snap on you for no reason? No one in my opinion. I wish I could be that stand up person that was just like "Ok... here's how it is, take it or leave it." And I'm starting to be like that, but it is so frustrating to have to be confrontational in order to get your point across.

I also hate it (and I am guilty of this too), is when those people let things build up, so when you finally do sit down and talk, they have 20 pointless things that they are mad at you about. It's also bad when you realize that one of your friends isn't talking to you, and then you find out through the grapevine what they are mad at you about, and you just kind of think "Really? They got mad about that?". UGH! So ridiculous.

I think I really need to look at myself and all of my relationships so that I can stop being that way, and be able to be that friend that let's someone know when they are being ridiculous. It's not fair to get mad over stupid things in a friendship, cause it'll end quicker than it began.

*sigh* Glad I got that out. Thank you for listening.

crazy busy.

BUSY BUSY BUSY!

Holy crap is my weekend full of stuff to do. Let me tell ya...

Friday
1. Track Practice from 4:15-5(I hope)
-It's the day before our home track meet so I've pretty much gotta be there. But if it runs over than I'm kind of screwed.

2. Tau Delt Tea 5:50
-Actually the tea doesn't start until 7, but it's the seniors last Tea so they get to go around town and have a tab at one of the local bars before it actually starts. I volunteered to be sober cab for them so I have to go early and take them to the bar ahead of time. Should be fun, but it might get a little messy. We'll see.

3. Norse Relays Saturday at Noon.
-I think I'm in three events? So not too much action. But this gets complicated with my next item of business.

4. Mother-Daughter Brunch at 2
-One of my events is scheduled for 2:40... and one of the things we want to do at the Brunch requires me to be there basically the whole dang time. So either I need to talk to my coach about not running that race... or I don't know what I'm gonna do. We'll figure it out.

Ok, so that doesn't seem to horribly bad, but here's some of the complicating factors.

1. My Mom's in town starting today at 5:30... if I'm not done with track by then, then I'll feel awful! I hate it when she drives 4 hours to see me and then I'm too busy to hang out with her. It's just stupid. I think what'll end up happening is I'll get done with track, get completely ready, drive the seniors to scoe's, then go hang out with my momma until the tea starts at 7. Then tomorrow we're both going to be running all over the place thanks to the track meet and the brunch. Sheesh.

2. My sister is about to burst. Her due date was Saturday, April 2, and today is the 8th... in case you needed to know. So as of right now she has an induction scheduled for Monday, but if we get a call tonight saying her water broke, me and my Mom will probably skip town immediately! It's very stressful! We're almost hoping for the Monday induction to go through even though we really do want the baby to come ASAP. It would just be that one complicating factor that would mess everything up! I would really like my mom to stay for the majority of the weekend! Here's hoping everything works out!

*sigh* I'm stressed out already. Time to chill before the craziness ensues!

roaring twenties.

Happy Birthday to meeee, Happy Birthday to MEEEEEE!!!

Ah! It's my birthday... and I feel old. But really, not much different than how I felt yesterday. Maybe a little more calm... I was running all over the place!

It's weird to think that I am no longer a teenager. I feel like my age needs to have a "teen" on the end, someone asked me how old I was today and just saying "twenty" sounded weird... Teenage years are gone... on to the Roaring Twenties!!

So far I've gotten a few gifts that have all been really nice! My Dad got me some cute Converse that are more like flats, and he says he's getting me a Vera Bradley clutch(we'll see if the Otter Box fits in that baby... ha). My Mom replaced my iPhone, and I also got some money and a $50 iTunes gift card from her. My grandma just emailed me and apparently I have a membership at the Y now, which I'm actually pretty excited about! I never work out in the summer so that'll be great! And I think my favorite gift of the moment(possibly because it's sitting right next to me and it's delicious) are the cupcakes my dear friend Taylor surprised me with yesterday. They're plain white cake(I don't know how she knew that vanilla cupcakes were my favorite), with vanilla frosting, and cute little toppers that she got from her family's kitchen store. It was so thoughtful, and they're homemade and DELICIOUS! I would save you all one... But I think there are only like... 20 left. So I'm eating them all. One for each year right? ;)

Oh yeah! And my friends are taking me out to dinner tonight! They came in this morning to make sure I would be able to go since I have track and everything. So we're going to Don Jose's tonight, which means free dessert and an embarrassing picture with a sombrero on my head. Ole!

iphone.

I GOT MY IPHONE BACK!

Oh gosh... it's been almost a month. And I really don't know how I survived. The phone I was using was pretty much only good for communication. I could send texts, make calls, and sometimes that didn't even work. FRUSTRATING.

Here's me being excited to have my iPhone back(like my new brown hair?).

I got a case called an Otter Box for it so I couldn't destroy it again, cause apparently I'm too clumsy for an iPhone. Hopefully it does the trick, cause my phone barely fits in my pocket now... haha.

Oh, and remember my sister who is about to pop(actually her due date was yesterday)? Check her out. She's HUGE! (Oh, and she's been blogging like crazy about her pregnancy, so if you're really curious, go to her blog!)
